For three to four years, RDI operated as a volunteer group, mobilizing members' contributions to provide food, essential items, and scholastic materials to vulnerable families.
As needs grew, the group recognized the importance of a formal organization to expand reach, strengthen impact, and sustain support.
Resilient Development Initiative (RDI) was registered and certified by the FDRE Authority for Civil Society Organizations in June 2026.
Resilient Development Initiative (RDI) is a legally recognized, non-profit and non-political civil society organization led by women and young professionals, dedicated to advancing community resilience and sustainable development across Ethiopia.
RDI works to improve the quality of life of communities by promoting inclusive and sustainable development — strengthening livelihoods, enhancing social well-being, building resilience to climate change and shocks, and supporting vulnerable populations through capacity building and humanitarian assistance.
Through collaboration with communities, partners, and stakeholders, RDI develops locally driven solutions that create opportunities for empowerment, resilience, and long-term development.
